How do you attach the pieces once they are dry?
I'm still trying to figure out my rocking chair. Argh.

You could use a little water or make clear glue (I can´t remember the ingredients for this.. it was simple though, water and something else). I´ve also used piping gel for gluing. And last time I took a piece of fondant and dissolved it in hot water and it worked great to glue pieces together.

You canuse a hot water/gumpaste or fondant mixture to make a thick glue. Or sometimes good 'ol royal icing works works great.

Tylose in a little water makes a good gum glue. Just put about half a teaspoon in a quarter/cup water. Let it set a spell, to smooth, then use it like glue. Cover it well if you want to store it.

I have a general use question about gumpaste. How do you roll it to 1/8 " thick and still work with it? Mine falls apart. So does my fondant and RBC if I roll it really thin.

What type of gumpaste are you using??? homemade or premade? You should be able to roll gumpaste thin enough to see through it and be able to still work with it. Fondant is a different story... If I'm covering a cake with fondant I roll it about 1/4" thick. If it's too thin you can see every bump and dent in the cake. If you mix fondant with gumpaste you can roll it thinner than that.

I'm no expert by any means, but I rolled out and cut all the pieces for my rocking chair yesterday and found it incredibly easy to roll really thin. Maybe yours is too sticky?
Maybe it's your rolling pin?
Keep the surface sprinkled with sugar (or whatever works for the substance you are rolling).
Also, roll a little, then turn it, then roll a little more, turn it. Keeps it from sticking and seems to roll nicely that way.

gumpaste cn be rolled thin enough to see through. if yours is falling apart I think you may hae too much sugar/cornstarch. use crisco to keep it from sticking to the board while you are rolling, not additional cornstarch. I only get a little starch on the back once I have it as thin as I need it so I can cut it.

I am using homemade gumpaste. Does that make a difference?
