Ok so my soon to be 8 year old sonhas decided on a luau party. Its going to be sooo much fun. We are looking for some ideas for his cake. We looked through the galleries but all of the cakes seem very girly. We are playing around with the idea of cupcakes with various luau/beach items on top but he wants to see a picture first. He is interested in a reg cake as well but it will need to be a layer cake. If anyone has any suggestions or pics of a more boy themed luau cake or cupcakes please please help us.

thanks in advance

Susan

How about a sand casle cake, or just a beach scene?

ok...don't do this...but as a guy who has a sister whom he does love..now...but when that age...well......

the first thought that came to mind was

the sister being sacrificed to the great lava goddess of the volcano of destruction!!!

--------------------

BUT

on more serious note: surfer dude riding the waves to the beach?

something that looks like the big tiki masks? w/ spears etc

hula fire dancer guy (like boyfriend in Lilo & Stich)...(does he like that movie? some ideas there...stich in a hula skirt? in a hawaiian shirt w/ ukelale??

Just made a volcano cake for a boy's luau party. Used the Wilton Wonder Pan and a 14" round pan. Check it out. I was real pleased with how it turned out as was the customer.

As first she didn't say anything--I thought "Uh Oh!!!" Then she put her hands on her cheeks and said "That is perfect. Just as I imagined it." Then she told me that so many times she has the idea in her head and when she gets the cake, she is disappointed. I gave her instructions on how to make egg white lava. She was estatic.

What about doing something with a beach ball? You could always use graham cracker crumbs for sand for a beach and then somehow incorporate a beach ball. You could use half of the sports ball or the mini ball pan.

I would stay with primary colors and then it will look boyish.

lmao doug.........in this case it maybe one of his brothers since there are 3 boys and no girls. So after showing him the ideas he has decided one cupcakes. he wants "his" cupcake to be the one with the surf board and the feet!!!! lol i told him i can do one with the guy actually surfing and he said no this its better to have him already fallen off the board!!!!! lol i will have to make roughly 65 cupcakes so on some i willhave starfish, sea shells, and a few other surf boards. perhaps a few palm trees.

disco lady how did you do the wave on your fallen surfer cake or as my son put it the wipe out cake??? i am wondering if i cant do it on a smaller scale for a few cupcakes to surround the fallen surfer with.

you guys rock thanks for the great ideas!!!!
