Does anyone have tips for converting MMF to a gumpaste texture? I'd like to try some sculpting and think it would be easier (and more cost effective) to use my MMF scrap. I've tried adding gum-tex but wasn't sure if I got the ratio right.

I just made my first purse cake ,used a sprinkle of gum-tex in the chunk of MMF to make the handle.....it seemed to work, went very hard after a few days...

Had read it here to do that ,so I did.....my trial and no error!..lol

Maybe someone else can help more, as I am new to this.
Hope this helps.

It should work fine!! As for the ratio..... I'm shocking at measuring I just "chuck in" I usually add about 1/2 tsp Tylose to a handful of MMF. If you start getting cracks whilst working with it rub some copha/Crisco into your work or add a little glycerin to your mix.

If you have any gumpaste/sugar paste mix it 50/50 with the MMF it works even better for figure/ sculpting work.

I also use my left over MMF mixed with heaps of tylose to make impression molds .... This what I used to make the mold for the zipper on my purse cake in my pics.

Can I add gumtex to regular fondant? Will it harden the same?

How long does it take for the 50/50 to dry hard? I have to make a 1/4" flat moon about 6" round and was wondering.
thanks! thumbs_up.gif

I'd give it a couple days at least...for 6 inches in diameter... thumbs_up.gif
