Ok, i'm in the process of making a cc cake for my step-sis. I skimped out on the the 10x as I wanted to try a different brand... (big mistake) anyway-it dosen't taste BAD...but I can tell a difference in the consistenecy. It's almost like a griddy taste?!

so the question is: what could I add to it to make it taste "better" it has to be something in the house cause I don't have time to go to the store... difficult huh? icon_eek.gif

I thought of cocoa, but I don't want a chocolate look w/no choc taste. I havent any real decorating plans for the top, so any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

thanks
b

What is a CC cake?

As far as the icing, do you have any flavorings in the house? Like orange or mint. Not sure what would be appropriate.

Or if you have an orange, you could add some grated orange rind to the icing when you frosted the cake. Lemon would also work. I've never tried using juice in an icing, but I bet it would work too if you subbed it for some of the other liquids.

Definitely wouldn't add any of the grated rind to the icing you used to pipe. That would be a mess.

Hope this helps,
Sharon

Adding cocoa and/or almond extract will work and it will taste great! HTH

I use almond extract with vanilla in my frosting as well. Plus a little butter flavoring. But that's in buttercream frosting. Not sure how it would taste in a chocolate frosting. Not sure on the grittiness though.

bodaisy, you're probably the only one who'll notice the difference. Don't stress!
