Ive made a stacked weddign cake, not a tiered one, i dont even know how to put together a tiered cake. she only wants 2 levels, with short 3 inch tiers inbetween, and all basket weave, very easy, and shes putting fresh flowers on. its also carrot cake. i really could use ANY tips for setting up , transporting. anything! I want to do the tiers inbetween with out the seperator plate on top of the bottom cake, does that make sense? how do i do that? what do i need to buy? THANK YOU all so much for your help!!!!

So the tiers are not going to diectely sit on each other. There are going to be pillars that separate the two tiers?

If that is the case you can do it two ways.

I would go to wilton and they have examples. But you could do spiked pillars (i think that is what they are called) That is when the pillar goes directly into the cake and then the plate sits on top of them.

Or

You could use the two plates. You would need to dowel the lower level. Then lets just use an 8" as the top tier and you were putting in on an 8 plate. You would need two 8 inch plates. One will sit on the lower cake, and then you will put pillar on it then put the other plate with the cake on in the pillars at the top.

Wilton does great illustrations.

yes, she wants pillars. the cake will be 8 and 12 in sizes.

So i think your first description with the spiked ones is what i want, b/c i dont want that plate sitting on top of the bottom tier, i just want to see frosting. so what is a spiked pillar? is that where the bottom of the pillar pulls out , does that rest on the very bottom of the cake? i will go check out wilton right now. thanks!
