I'm with you Kos! I just had a lady balk becuase I told her I would charge 1.50 for a wedding cake shaped cookie or 1.25 for a 3-4 in heart done 1/2 white and 1/2 black. They charge .75 for a plain drop cookie in the grocery store! People are crazy and they don't have a clue about the work they are requesting. Mind you this is for wedding favors for 100-125 peeps in a swanky area of town-shheesh!

I know how you feel. I had an order, would have been my first, for a teacher at the school. One of the lunchroom ladies offered to do the cookies for about .30 cents a piece. (Of course, using the school kitchen, supplies, ingredients, etc.) I was so bummed but a little relieved since I feel like you, a little uncomfortable about charging.

Anyway, I'm glad you're home safe and sound. I was envisioning you speeding down the highway in the dark on your way to San Antonio with Black Eye Billy and Bluejean Sally riding shotgun! icon_eek.gif

I saw your wedding cookies and they are beautiful! (and I think $1.50 is a little too low)

Hope you have a better tomorrow dodibug!

Thank you Kos! That's very sweet! As long as dh and ds can get over their tummy bug it will be smooth sailing. I've been the clorox clean-up gunslinger the last couple of days. I just carry it on my hip and a roll of papertowels to spray everything they touch!!

Thanks for the cookie compliment too! I figured I'd give them a good price since they are a friend of a friend but from now on I'll have to be a shrewd cookie woman!

I may be new here, but doesn't it depend on where you live and how you asked to create this boquet?

Did a friend ask you to make them for someone at the hospital? Or is this purely a retail thing?

The customer is always right, and I would go with what you feel he/she would pay for the item. I CERTAINLY, however, agree with the $1.00 an inch formula. Especially in the "real" world.

Keep in mind your market, but be sure to charge enough to pay yourself and your expenses...
