I was reading in a book, to mix confectioners gaze with the luster dust to paint it on the cake..It made a great gold color. Has anyone done this, and did you make the glaze yourself, or buy it??How did you make it??
Thanks,
JoAnn

I recently tried this with pearl luster dust and didn't really like it. It cut the shine somewhat, I thought. Didn't try it with gold. I have some gold items coming up. I'd be interested to see if this bump brings out anybody who has done it with gold. If not, I'll try a few sample pieces with it and see how it goes. I'll try to remember to come back here and paste results.

It was REALLY hard to get my brush and dish clean after using the confectioner's glaze, though. Finally just left it to soak a while in Everclear. Even then, I had a scrub a little.

Edited to add that I used purchased confectioner's glaze - CK brand.

Well, I haven't made it and I've only used it once in a class w/Nicholas Lodge. We used silver luster dust w/confectioners glaze on some gumpaste scissors. It was great! Somehow I just don't think it would work well with other luster dusts, just the metallics.
