I would like to make gumpaste calla lilies for a wedding cake that is due on May 12th. I don't have time to order cutters that are just for calla lilies. I've heard that you can use heart shapped cookie cutters. Is there any special technique to doing them this way? If someone can PM me the instructions I would greatly apreciate it.

Thanks,
Randi

There are a lot of threads on here about it and even one on Wilton. They all say you can use a heart cookie cutter. That's what I used, or fondant cutter, whatever. I found the directions on Wilton very confusing. Turns out the point at the bottom of the heart, is really the top of your flower. If you wrap one hump at a time and fold the other over the first you'll get it. You're supposed to make the stamen first by rolling out yellow balls and then making small snakes. As for the leaves around the bottom, I made some this week and they sucked. But I'm covering that party anyway. Good luck.

I just made some and they were VERY easy. I used the heart cutter and rolled the yellow stamen in polenta. I am not sure about the stems as I made mine to look "curvy". It should be in my pics.
