I have heard of people renting church or school kitchens to run their cakes from. Does anybody on here do this, and if so, how is it working for you! What would be the best way for me to find one....call every church in town? icon_smile.gif

I just started renting. I pay $100/ 3 hours. Call every place you know. Go to churches, daycares, anything you can think of. Good luck!

Sorry for the untimely reply, I must have looked back a few dozen times.

The place I rent is here in town- it's a licensed kitchen in one of the ethnic halls here. When I am selling at events, the event staff requires a license from the city health dept ($25) as well as a copy of the receipt from the hall which states that I prepared all my confections there. Then I need to provide them with a copy of the facilities license as well. Then, after all is said and done, I get my temp. food permit for the city. Generally, it is good for the entire length of the event or 14 days, depending on where the event is.
The only requirements the facility has is that I pay upfront and clean up after myself. Really simple.

Hope this helps!

I pay $50 for 4hrs and $10 for each additional hr.
I just have to call ahead and book it around any other functions that might be going on hasn't been a problem. If I can't use my reg. church I have the same arrangements with another. Both are food safe kitchens.
