Ok...I have officially lost all capabilities of remembering anything!
I blame my children...I can do that because eventually they will blame me for everything wrong in their lives!
Today I am making a cake for a friend's son's birthday. He is my god child so I figure it will be a freebie. I measured/sifted the flour and sugar when I get a phone call from someone ordering a cake. Takes 10 minutes. Go back to my cake and can't remember if I put all the sugar in or not.
I got the bright idea of remeasuring and should have 5 cups if I put it all in. Came up with 41/2...ok. I sifted so it would probably be >5 if I put it all in, right? Put in the other 1 cup of sugar. I think I was wrong! It is in the oven now, we will see what i end up with. I tasted the batter from the bowl and it tasted better than usual...therefore must be too much sugar! Darn kids!!!!
aww sorry you are having such a bad cake day. I too blame my kids, when hubby comes home and ask if i did something i was supposed to do i say no because the kids had me busy all day. I never tell him that its because i've been on CC all day. LOL. Don't worry i'm sure it will be ok. Let us know how it comes out!
Oh boy, can I identify with that. I now measure out everything for each cake and have the ingredients sitting next to the mixer, all ready to go, before I switch it on . This way i just empty everything into the mixing bowl, can't forget anything. If anything is left out, I see it immediately. Happened twice before, but not since
Thank goodness she is my friend and has a good sense of humor! I told her what happened and she said to go ahead and frost the cake. We decided it would be a food science experiment
The cake seemed to rise normally but feels a bit denser
We will soon find out how good chocolate cake tastes sans vanilla! Ursula, very good idea...I think I will have to put that into practice from now on! Thanks ![]()
