I cooked my cakes but they turned out half the size they should be. very disapointing but I guess I will have to deal with it. Any suggestions on how to get them to turn out the size I want. Maybe use a different recipe. Thanks for any advice I can get icon_redface.gif

What size were you going for and what size did they turn out?

Were these a "scratch" cake recipe or were they from a mix?

Well 9x13 about two inches thick is what I wanted they are barely and inch thick. Maybe I didnt use enough batter in the pan?

My 9x13 is 2 inches tall...I use one duncan hines mix and it usually turns out to be about 1 1/2" or 1 3/4" .

It's never 2", some people put more than one box in a pan to get it to rise higher.

I use an inverted flower nail as a heating core and it helps the middle not rise so much.

If you want it taller, try torting it, filling it, then icing it.

good luck!

What kind of mix were you using?

I use the enhanced cake mix formula with my mix for a 9x13 - it makes a nice full 2" cake that way. (I have to trim the top of it off just a little bit)
