I am planning on making the cake on page 36 of the Wilton Course 2 lesson book. It says I need to make daffodils in a "buttercup/lemon yellow combination" and apple blossoms in "aster mauve/rose combination".

What does this mean? A few flowers in one color and a few in the other? Or somehow using both colors in each flower?

i just pulled out my book and from the looks of it, the / in the colors mean the different shades ex. buttercup or lemon yellow, mauve or pink

I thought so too at first, but the way the book words it...to use a "combination".

I know I can just do what I want, but now I'm really curious! LOL

I just looked at my book. I believe they mean that you mix those colors together to achieve the color you want for the flower. The flowers in the picture don't appear to be two different colors. I'm retaking course two with a friend right now. I use golden yellow and lemon yellow mixed togethr for my daffodils and rose petal pink for my apple blossoms.

Yes, it is a mixture of the two colors. buttercup yellow is a little dull and the lemon yellow brightens it up just a little. The same thing with the mauve and pink.
