I am doing a wedding cake for my sis-in-law's best friend and she has
requested a groom's cake as well. She wants a rack on billiard balls on top of a sheet cake made to look like a pool table. Any good ideas on how to do the billiard balls and rack (and possibly a cue stick)? icon_biggrin.gif

balls: oversized cake balls dipped in colored chocolates and then numbers piped on. (white spots could be a circle of very thin fondant)

rack: long strip of fondant wide enough to match scale of balls and then shaped into a triangle (will have to let it get "stiff" enough to stand on edge and then form to into triangle

table top--- standard sheet, use biscuit cutter to cut out holes for pockets. use second smaller sheet and cut into strips to build up the edges of base sheet to create the bumpers.

cue stick---long tapered rope of fondant would work. just allow to get really hard before painting it. (use light would color for fondant -- the color of the upper part and then paint the handle area darker wood color and white band w/ blue tip)

Thanks, Doug! You also had a better idea than I for the pool table.

Here is my pool table. I made the balls, chalk and stick all for fondant.
