Use a piece of wax paper cut to fit the cake then draw your grid lines on it with piping gel. Turn the paper over and lightly brush with a small brush. The piping gel will stick to the cake and give you a guide. You can also color the piping gel to give a definite outline. I use this transfer method on odd sized or shaped cakes. It is easier to correct on paper than on your cake. Good luck.

I have done several with BC - I will start with my large spatula draw the first line and then lay the spatula next to that and kinda turn it to the right for the next line. And then move the spatula to the right of that line and do it again. Hope this makes sense. If not let me know.
