I just finish taking Wilton's cake decorating classes. I would like to train on a part time basis cake decorating just to get practice and experience are there bakeries who take in trainees, or has anyone been trained this way?
Would like your imput.

I did once tried asking a very upscale bakery in my area, and also a
Master Pastry Chef at the Fairmont Hotel in my city, but they both said no, because of Union rules and insurance issues.. They said I was more than welcome to watch anytime, but not do any work.. oh well..
That's a bummer. One time I went to a bakeshop to see if they could use some help and they treated me like " you can't just walk off the street and work for us!" I live near the culinary institute of america so it's very difficult to get anything since there are so many "trained" chefs looking for whatever they can get. oh well.
