I made my first fondant loop bow. I made the strips 6 in and kept side ways (so i did not have to stuff) for 2 1/2 days to dry out. I did mix with 50/50 gumpaste. I put together last night and used some royal icing as glue, this morning the loops are drooping. I placed some paper towel to hold, but a couple loops broke. I made swirlys to fill in some gaps. not placing on cake until sat. Are my loops not dry enough, it has been humid here, but they did feel dry. thanks for the help
Ok, I put in the oven for a little while and it seemed really hard, I let it cool and then took away the pieces of paper towel I used to prop up the pieces, this morining it is a big mess. It all has fallen down and is just a big droopy mess. It has been five days, this never did dry hard. I guess next time I am going to try just using gumpaste and no fondant at all. any help would be appreciated.
Funny you should post this topic at this time....I have had disaster since Thursday night on my first attempt at a fondant loop bow. I followed the directions to a tee and finally have thrown out my second batch....you should have seen the bows, I really wish I would have taken a picture before they hit the trash can!!!! I finally ended up making rolled fondant roses for the top of the cake...which by the way is for my daugther in law's birthday! It looks ok but the looped bow would have been much better for the cake I did. I'll post a pic later.....best of luck to you!

i made some just a week or so ago. i made the recipe for mmf, but added a whole tablespoon of gum tex to it after i melted the mm's., so it was really more gumpaste than anything. then i added the ps, and kneaded and all. when i made the bows, i let the dry on their side too, in a tray with ps on the bottom to keep from sticking. they started to droop, so i stayed near them for a few hours, making them straight everytime one drooped. then they were hard enough to leave alone at least, and by the next day they were perfect! you can look in my photos if you want, they're on the gift box cake (which had some issues, but i loved hte way the bows turned out) anyway, you may want to try this. good luck!
