Ursula40 was interested in how I made the tooth for my dh's graduation cake (in my pics) so I thought it easier to post here since it might help someone else too!
I started out with 4 dowels stuck in green floral foam then put a ball of fondant on top of each dowel. The ball kept the krispies from just sliding down the dowels. Then I started wrapping the cooled rice krispie treats around the legs of the tooth. I had to keep going back and positioning them. I guess because of the humidity they didn't get hard like I was hoping.I built up on top of the "legs" of the tooth and let it set up for a bit. Then I connected the legs with bridges of krispies. I just built up from there giving it time in between. I did have to keep mushing things back together and repositioning to keep the krispies where I wanted. I finally realized that I could use melted candy melts as mortar and a cool hair dryer to dry the melts quicker. I melted a small amount right in a disposable bags and snipped off the end. It worked great to keep things in the place I wanted it faster. I only wish I had thought of it sooner!
I let it dry uncovered overnight. Then i covered it with bc and then fondant. I'm still working on a way to get it smoother. I think if I'd had more time and less of a nosy cousin who wouldn't shut up while I was trying to work (don't you just love family) I could have worked on smoothing the krispies better before putting on the bc. Then I covered in mmf. Once the fondant set up just a bit I used fondant tools to make the grooves in the top of the tooth for a realistic effect. I had dh draw a pic of what the top of a tooth looked like.
Hope this helps spark some ideas and other krispie kreations!
