with high ratio shortening!!!! icon_lol.gif I've been having so much trouble with my buttercream not turning out right and I finally gave in and tried it and I will never go back to regular stuff! I love it, never would have found out about it if it weren't for CC, so thanks!!!!

It's great! And it doesn't have that greasy feel in the mouth! And the melting point is much higher than butter or margarine. Cool stuff!

Tweetycup.......it's sold under the names Sweetex and Alpine. Alpine has the highest melting point--great for summer and high-humidity areas. It's basically Crisco, that's been whipped. For every cup of Crisco, just use 3/4 cup of the hi-ratio. Add one teaspoon of butter extract per 3/4 cup of Sweetex/Alpine for a better flavor. Also, since Crisco no longer contains trans fats--and decorators are having problems with that--this would be a good choice/substitute.

I am also trying to find hi ratio and i caled my local supply shop ans they never heard of it..... I guess I will have to have it shipped to me, that stinks.
o well. i really want to try it.

If your local bakery supply doesn't sell it, you can buy it online from various vendors (sorry, can't think of a link.....I buy mine in town).
