I am making a cake that has to be ready this afternoon. I am making red fondant roses to go on it. I had to use so much red in my fondant to get the color I wan't and now my fondant is a wierd consistancy. It's really hard to describe. It is a little dry and it won't stick together. icon_cry.gif Is there any way I can save it? This is for my church and I am hoping to get some buisness from this cake. I need help right away!!!!1

You can add a bit of Crisco shortening like the size of a pea and try and work it back to a smooth consistency.

Thanks! I haven't worked to much with fondant and have never had to use this much coloring in it. I'll give it a try.

I did this once with black fondant. I second the suggestion of working it with crisco to soften it. You also might want to stick it in the microwave for 5-10 seconds if you're not having any luck at room temp. Then just knead it as much as you can to try to make it come back together.

you can also try just the tiniest bit of water kneaded in to it...it will feel really sticky at first but as you knead it will smooth out. I have also found when working with fondant and fixing the dry stuff, I like to spread crisco on the surface lightly that way when you are kneading it is distributed evenly. good luck.
