I do not typically make sheet cakes (except as kitchen cakes for weddings) or "deli style" round. So I have an inquiry for making 3 10" round Pound or Red Velvet cakes (both from scratch family recipes), no extra decorations just ice and star border. It is for a rehearsal dinner.

So how much should I charge for a standard 10" round with basically no decorations?

As always~ thanks in advance! icon_biggrin.gif

Whats your normal price per serving. Thats what I would charge. I look at the plain ones as a bonus for all the extras that go into the fancy one that you don't get paid for, just because you want it to be your best.

A 10" round usually serves about 23-25 people. (we are talking regular serving slices) If making red velvet or pound, I would charge at least $2.50 - $3.00/serving given all the butter/eggs in pound cake and buttermilk/cream cheese frosting in red velvet. Any restaurant would charge much more for a slice of cake. HTH, good luck & welcome to CC!!!! icon_smile.gificon_smile.gif

In my area, I would sell a 10" round with BC for $30. I use a cake mix as a base so the cost may be a bit lower than from scratch.

Well...I don't really have a normal price. Since I primarily do carved stuff the price is mostly all labor since ingredients aren't but a small fraction of the project. I know I will have to revise this significantly once I open a store front since it takes me so long ot sketch cakes then price them. icon_lol.gif

For wedding kitchen cakes I have charged around $2.25 in the past only because of the flavors requested.

URGH! I hate pricing! It is the most challenging part of the "job".

Thanks!
