I have a sweet sixteen cake to do & they want strawberry shortcake. Will whipped cream hold up at room temperature for about 4+ hours? If not what icing do you suggest? Do you think angel food cake would be good? Can you make it without that hole in the middle? Most importantly can you cut it to tort for the cake filling & to remove the hump?

Thank you for all suggestions.

You will need to stabalise the whipped cream somehow - maybe with meringue powder? Yes you can cook an angel food cake without the hole - just put an upside down flower nail in the centre of the pan you want to use to conduct the heat to the centre. You can torte it too, but go carefully and gently! Hope that helps!

For this, I make the bride's white cake with fresh strawberries mixed with BC topped with thinly sliced strawberries for the filling. To me this tastes just like strawberry shortcake. Hope this helps.
