So did any of you watch and cringe when they knocked down that row of beautiful REAL Stacked wedding cakes on Wedding Crashers Monday Night?

Oh my gosh, I just thought about all that work wasted!!

I refuse to watch this show based on the previews. It looks like a "we'll do ANYTHING to get on TV" .... a stoop to an even lower low in "entertainment".

I may be so old school on this, but a wedding, while it is a celebration and a fun day, is a serious venture in a person's life ..... to use it in almost mockery form as a set up for a tv gag to the extreme that it looks like this show is taking it ....

well, I just won't watch it.

I haven't watched this show just because of the way the previews look. It just looks terrible!

I might be in the minority but I have watched it and I think it is really funny. They don't ruin the whole ceremony, just little pranks on certain people leading up to the ceremony and a few pranks at the reception. They do not mess around during the vows or the first dance or any other time that the bride or groom tells them not to. And in the end the couple gets a nice surprise of a 7 day honeymoon. I think the couples that they pick just now how to have fun and wish for their guests to also have a time they will never forget.

Debi I agree with you. My other thing... and this was instilled in my by my Gramma... cake in the couples face is not funny. I don't care if other people do it, but my DH was warned!! icon_wink.gif Everyone really expected me to do it because of my personality, (anyone who has read a few posts from me will understand that statement!) and I think there was a sigh of disappointment when I didn't, but I have too much respect for my Gram. (And, she had put off treatment for her cancer so she could be strong enough to read scriptures aloud at my wedding... what was I GOING to do!!!???) icon_wink.gif

I watched the show and some of it is actually pretty hilarious. I guess I like a good prank, but the one episode where the guy thought he ruined the bride's dress right before the wedding was priceless.

With that said, I don't really care for the ceremony jokes. It's one thing to have a few good gags, but not during the actual wedding vows. They had a fake priest that kept mispronouncing the bride's name, and it wasn't funny.

I had to look away during the commercial with the cakes collapsing. Such a waste of good cake makes me so sad!! icon_smile.gif

Oh that just made me cry! What a gramma!

I'm with you on the cake shoving. I take it as a sign on whether the marriage will last or not. Shoving cake in the face usually indicates a "not", especially in the cases where you can DEFINITELY see the person getting smashed in the face was not in agreement. (Like my bride who stomped off in tears to the bathroom following by her entourage of bridesmaids!)

Before folks go down my throat, if the couple agrees ahead of time to put on this show for their guests, I have no problem with that.

I told my groom if he shoved the cake in my face, I would slug him in the gut as hard as I could...
Needless to say, he didn't do it. LOL! Image

Afraid I won't watch this, either. icon_cool.gif

It's pretty depressing to think that anyone would choose to muck up their wedding for a honeymoon trip. No wonder so many marriages are so short lived these days.

Obviously, everyone is supposed to appreciate the "joke", but I'm sure that many parents are offended. There's really nothing funny about blatant bad taste.

We didn't do anything in bad taste at our wedding, and 27 years later people still tell us what a wonderful time they had.

Sorry, I just don't get it.....prostituting one of the most special days in your life for a package vacation seems very shabby and poorly thought out....not too far away from those fools roped in by "Girls Gone Wild", in my mind. Some 15 minutes just aren't worth it......
