AAAARRRRRGGG! icon_cry.gif

I have hours of cookie decorating left and it's 10:30 already...just need to let off some steam...

First, all of you who do cookies / cookie bouquets? I have a new respect for you! I've done some cookies in the past, but I'm mostly into decorating cakes...and now I know why!

I got a last minute order yesterday afternoon that I, of course, accepted. The lady needs 24 cookies on sticks, individually wrapped, (which I've never done before) to look like Ninja Turtle heads.

Disaster #1: I decided to make a template and trace it to get the shape. Took forever, and do not have the neat clean edges I'd hoped for. AND they spread like crazy.

Disaster #2: Tried the NFSC recipe for the first time, and it failed MISERABLY. The dough just crumbled to pieces when I tried to roll it. But it did taste good. icon_rolleyes.gif

Disaster #3: I'm running WAY behind. I'm supposed to deliver tomorrow afternoon, and I'm afraid my royal will not be dry enough to package the cookies!

Disaster #4: I had just finished piping the outlines of the faces (all freehand, of course), when my husband rushed in and said "Help! Garrett is throwing up!" So my son has now thrown up three times, and I'm washing my hands, lysol-ing like crazy, and keeping him AWAY from the kitchen.

Disaster #5 and counting: Did I mention that I have 2 cakes due on Friday, and 1 more on Saturday morning? And that I have a daughter who is bound to be sick too now, and I am 6 months pregnant and this will be our third round of stomach illness since January?

Please don't take this the wrong way but isn't it when it rains it pours? Sounds like my luck--no my luck would have been son getting sick on the finished product.

nearly had a fit myself - I just mis-read '...2 cakes due on Friday, and 1 more on Saturday morning' as '...2 cakes due on Friday, and I move on Saturday morning!' I was thinking if 6 months pregnant gives you that much energy...

Whew! The cookies came out fine, although I didn't get much sleep last night. The customer loved them, and her 6 year old son even called me to say thank you...AND she gave me extra money! icon_biggrin.gif

Thank you for your comments...here's the finished product:

Wow! Cute cookies...You did it, SUPERMOM!
Hang in there...My 2yr old had a bug that caused him to leak from both ends for over 3 weeks!!! He woke up each morning, got sick, and was feeling pretty good until the next morn.

ONCE a day for over 3 weeks! LAUNDRY, UGH! I was in a panic thinking his blankie and monkey pillow would surely bite the dust!

Anyway, your cookies turned out adorable...hope your son doesn't pass his cooties!

StaceyC3 were we seperated at birth? ha ha. Sounds like my day. I have some similar problems except that I don't attempt to free hand my cookies and I don't do the royal icing decorating since it seems like a royal pain. Not too long ago I had my kids in the bath (and I'm prego with #3) and turned on the oven not realizing that there was a plastic cutting board in there, filled the house with toxic fumes... forgot I had the bath water running (thank God for the overflow drain...) almost ruined my oven. Hubby had to CHISEL out the plastic and my mechanic kindly used a blow torch to get the plastic off the shelves, but then I was unable to make the cookies I was planning on making for the week.....

Your cookies came out awesome though! Ultimately you should feel great. Gold star for you icon_biggrin.gif
