I am planning on stacking a Hello Kitty shaped cake on top of a sheet cake. My question is when do I put it on the board and how big do I make the board? I didn't know if I would cut the board to size or if I should cut it a little bigger & put a boarder around it. I didn't know if I should try to shape the cake before putting it on the board or if I should shape it once it's on the board.

This will be my first attempt at shaping a cake and my firt attempt at stacking a cake too. So, help is needed. Also, any tips on transporting it? Thanks.

I would shape the small cake on your board. Cut the board so it is the same size as the bottom of the cake. Then once the cake is iced stack it on the sheet cake. Make sure you put some supports under where you are going to stack the other cake so it doesn't sink or fall. hth
