Okay, I don't have any glycerin and am wanting to make some tommorow. I don't have any local supply shops, and I'm gussing Wal-Mart doesn't carry it. Is there a substuite? Do I just need to try something else? I've tried the MMF and that didn't work for me, I'm hoping I can get this to work. Thanks!

I remember purchasing glycerine at either the Walgreen's or Wal-Mart in the pharmacy section - think it was only a 4 oz. bottle so you really need to hunt for it. icon_smile.gif

I don't know about a substitute, but I've made hte fondant and love it! I'll never go back to mmf. This is very easy to work with, tastes great, and isn't nearly as messy to make as mmf.

Glucose and glycerine are two different things. I buy glycerine in the pharmacy section of the grocery.

Wal-Mart's is out, Walgreens is no carring it in liquid form, he did offer to sell me some in subposatory form icon_surprised.gif , don't think that will work! Finally got a hold of someone at Rite-Aid and I am having them hold a bottle for me, it's their last one!! Thanks so much guys! I'll let you know how it works for me.

Well, I bought the small bottle of glycerine to use in making soap and edible lotions - so it does have a variety of uses.

I just finished making the fondant, I hope it's right! I added quite a bit of vanilla, two tablespoons instead of teaspoons. Oh, well should make it taste better. It's not strechy, as in if a take a peice and pull it, it just tears it doesn't strech. Is the way it should? icon_confused.gif

Fondant doesn't stretch really. It's kind of smooth and soft feeling like playdoh. Gumpaste on the other hand snaps.
