I have another question about MMF. I've read where it tends to crack if you use it alone in flowers and such. So my question is will it/or how long til it starts to crack on a cake? After I put it on the cake and smoth it out, should I leave extra at the bottom in case of shrinkage? Also do all my flowers and decorations that I want to use on the cake need to be attached using buttercream or something else, or can I just pipe everything straight onto the MMF? So many questions I have, lol.

I have never had my MMF crack on my cake, and I don't think that you should have any problems putting BC decorations on it. I haven't done it yet, but I have seen others do it.

I haven't ever had my MMF crack either or had any shrinkage. I did a cake last week in MMF and piped the buttercream stringwork right onto the fondant and it worked great.
