Hi all!
I'm wanting to order some cake dummies from Dallas Foam, and am not sure of the thickness needed.
I've never done a wedding cake before, but would like to practice. How thick is a typical tier? I know it's a two layer per tier, but is typically a 4 inch? I've got 2 inch deep cake pans, but I've also seen 3" deep cake pans.
They sell them in 3,4 and 5 inch thickness. So for one tier, do I need 2 of the 3 inch ones, or just one 4 inch or 5 inch? Or just 3 inch tiers?
Thank you!

I just ordered from Dallas Foam and I love them. So cheap and nice to fix a problem I had. I got 3 sets in the 3 inch height. Look great and good quality.

oh okay! I thought put two of the 3" ones together, that would be really big!
Thank you both!

I bought the 4" teirs as 3" torted is about 4" and 2 2" tiers is about the same too once leveled. So that is why I went with the 4". Beware the shipping & handling costs. It cost me more than the dummies for the $10 minimum order. $5 handling and then the shipping.
