I have been asked to do a birthday cake for my mother's voice student and her mom asked me to really personalize this cake. She is in her 20's and is involed in ......yoga, singing, crochetting(sp?), swimming, and she loves Dobby (the little house elf) from Harry Potter. Any ideas???????
Thanks Erica
Wow, that would be a lot to put on 1 cake...I would pick just one thing and use that. Personally, I think Dobby sitting on a cake would be just too cute, but not sure if you're into modelling figures out of fondant/gumpaste.
How about a ball of yarn cake, but instead of having a cat on it- have Dobby tangled up in the yarn. He could be holding a crochet hook as his magic wand and have the caption of happy birthday ...on with musical notes and lines and a clef?, as if he is singing the greeting.
Just a note in case you have not read the books, Dobby collected socks. You could have him wearing or making socks.
Ooh! Dobby sitting on top of a ball of yarn crocheting socks!
HOW cute would that be?!
While we're on the subject.. I wanted to make a knitting themed cake for my friend I'm moving in with to commemorate the occasion.. Do you think piping or fondant would be better to decorate a ball of yarn?
Dobby could be doing a yoga pose. How about full lotus?
I'm a former yoga teacher. Ask me about poses. There's over 5000 of them!
Thank you for the great ideas...I really like the idea of having Dobby knitting socks!!
