I was just wandering how much you would charge for a wedding cake. I live in a small community in Kentucky and a 1/4 sheet cake goes for $14.00.

I would go to a bakery and ask them what they charge. Those commercial sheet cakes aren't in the same category as a wedding cake. How big is it? What kind of frosting/icing? Any flowers? Topper?

i'm doing my first wedding cakes next month for my former boss and she wants 2 10" cakes, simple buttercream roses and that's it... i'm charging $25 per cake... i think that's fairly reasonable and probably a bit underpriced even but it is my first so...

That sounds underpriced but reviews will help as you continue.

We don't have any bakeries or grocery stores that sell cakes here. These are prices from people like me that bake and sell ckes from there home. We are a really small town like 6500 population. I did say small. The cake I am doing is a square 3 layer white with buttercream and a few pearl accents--nothing major. Thanks for all the help though.

Chrissy736:

Your pricing sounds right for a "first cake" as you've described, and for your area.

Plus, even though you'll only come out maybe "even" after costs, you'll be getting some business start-ups from the reception! (You might want to have some business cards ready, girl!)

Best of luck to you,
