What Color Would You Use...looking For Some Advice

I'm doing a guitar cake for a graduation party in his school colors. It's for a boy and his school colors are deep purple and bright yellow. I can't decide if I should do the guitar in purple with yellow accents - or yellow with purple accents. What would you do? Thanks!
hmmmmmmm.....Is it an electric guitar? If so,,,,, I would probably do the yellow with purple accents but if it is a regular guitar then the purple; however, if you are doing the guitar on top of another cake then can the cake be purple and yellow and the guitar brown or whatever color his guitar is? Just brainstorming? ![]()

Those were my Jr Hi colors! They had home and away uniforms. The home uniforms were purple with yellow letters. The aways were opposite. The away uniforms made them look jaundiced.
Go with the purple with yellow accents.

Thanks for all the quick reply's. Yes, it is an electric guitar. The mom saw one of my other ones and she wants one (the same client I did the Dora cake for - pic in my gallery). I'd love to do it in fondant and give it a little luster - but she wants bc icing instead of fondant. She say's many older people would be there and are more traditional. So, I'll use bc with fondant accents (and the neck). I guess I could try sprinkling some of that wilton shimmer dust - the sparkly stuff - on the bc?? I've never tried that affect before though.
I'd do it just like the one in your photos, substituing yellow for the white. That's gorgeous, by the way. You should be able to get close to the same look if you use crusting buttercream. I think the idea of sprinkling in with pixy dust or whatever it's called is a good one. So many electric guitars have sparkly stuff embadded in them. Should be dynamite! Be sure to let us know when you've posted a picture of it.
Here's another idea for you that I picked it up from watching the "Food Network Challenge - Elvis Cake" - created by Mike's Amazing Cakes. He made several Elvis' guitar cake. He did BC for the body, then on top of it, he covered it with a sheet of colored chocolate.
He poured the melted chocolated over a traced paper, then used toothpick to create a swirly effect. Let it cool and it'll become hard. Peel it off and place it right on top of BC. How's that? ![]()
All the ideas sound great - I just wanted to make a comment on your pictures in your gallery - WOW! I love them all.

I've have not seen the Elvis challenge. Is is new/recent? I'll have to try to tivo it sometime. I'd be scared to try working with chocolat untill I've seen it "demonstrated" first. It sounds really cool though. I love the food network cake challenges - did you see the children's birthday cake one? It was awsome!
I think I'm going to use the pruple bc icing for the cake with the yellow fingerplate - and purple knobs on top of the yellow. I also have like a pound of yellow fondant left over from easter that I didn't want to use on a cake (since it's not fresh anymore). So, I think I will cover the board in that then use my new toy (a textured rolling pin) on it. So that will brighten up the purple a bit.
I'm going to ice a dummy tonight with the pruple and hit it with the sparkle to see how it looks. I'm excited! I'll post when it's done. Thanks again for all the help - and for the kind comments aobut my cakes. I'm fairly new to this whole cake decorating thing - but I LOVE IT!!! this web site has been so helpful. Thank you all!
Barbaraneol - I love your rocket ship cake - it's darling and that is the biggest base cake I have ever seen on a wedding cake. Great job!
