I am making my daughters B-Day cake this week and wanted to know if I could bake it and freeze it Thursday and then Friday decorate it? If so, before I decorate it, should I let it sit abit? I am new to this so forgive me. Also with fruit filling, should I refrigerate after opening?

Thanks so much

You can absolutely freeze your cake and decorate the next day. You should let it thaw before your ice and decorate it, though. If you are using a filling that requires refrigeration, then yes, you should refrigerate your cake, but it will be fine for a few hours at room temp before your party. Welcome to CC!

I usually bake and freeze on Thursdays, then on Fridays, thaw the cake while it's still wrapped in Saran wrap and decorate it when it comes to room temp.

If you're using a filling that says "refrigerate after opening", I'd probably refrigerate it to be on the safe side, but many of the "actual" cake fillings are shelf-stable and can be left out for a few hours. Check the label on your preferred filling and see what they recommend.
