I am making my daughter's first birthday cake today and I was going to do a 10x10x2 square pan on the bottom and then her 6" round smash cake on top. We have a possible 16 people coming. I am worried that the 10x10x2 pan isnt going to feed everyone. I am only have cake and ice cream so I need to make sure I have enough. What do you think??

The Wilton guide states that the 10x10x2 yields 30 party size servings: 1 1/2 x 2 inches.

So for 16 people you would get slices that are almost double that size (3x2x4) and you are serving ice cream.....

That being side, who doesn't LOVE cake and I would rather send cake home with the guests than not have enough. (But that's just my personal feeling on cake.)

THe nice thing about square or rectangle pans is you can just do the math to figure out how many servings you can get.

10x10: If you cut the pieces 2x2", then you will be cutting 5 rows by 5 columns = 25 pieces.

If you cut them 2x3", then you will be cutting 5 rows by approx 3 columns = 15 pcs.

You don't indicate if this will be a one layer or two layer cake. That makes a difference in your serving sizes.
