Firstly Hi! I'm new to this american site (I'm from the UK)
I've mainly been doing cakes from friends and family, after studying for 2 years at college I've now decided to set up a business and have just recieved my first enquiry, after many emails, the couple would like to meet with me to discuss their cake in more detail. How and what do I do at a consultation? It's a home run business but the house is a tip at the moment (building a new shed so all electrical items are stored in the kitchen)
So my questions are....
where do I meet them? i.e. coffee shop?
what do I say?
What do I take with me etc?
I've only done one wedding cake before and I never met the couple, my sister in law gave them the cake as a wedding gift and I chose the design.

Meeting at a restaurant is a perfectly acceptable way to meet your clients. (I met my son's home-based wedding photographer at one.)
Here's a How to Conduct a Tasting/Booking:
(Also includes charge/no charge, and no-shows.)

(I really like the idea of using the blank cake sketch templates.)
And now for the pesky details.
