got an order for a Tinkerbell cake last week for delivery Tuesday. So I baked the cake on Monday morning and started decorating it that evening. After putting on the butter cream and fondant, taking time to get a nice smooth finish, I decided to check the pic she sent me to get the decorations right..... she wanted a round cake ..... and I made a square one ![]()

!!!! I was floored! ![]()
It was too late to bake, cool and decorate a new cake. So I decided to cut it round. My hard work on the fondant was all for nothing!
Had to peel everything off and start again. The second time it looked terrible, the sides where I cut it looked so lumpy and bumpy, I had to add a 2nd layer of fondant on the sides. TG the flowers hide the seam! But i think I saved it in the end ![]()

Nice save, I still think it looks incredible! Isn't it a pain to pull off the fondant? I would have never known if you wouldn't have said anything
Great save! For next time though, you can coat it with some more buttercream (a full coat and then some is fine) to help even out where it used to be a square. I had the same mistake this past weekend - I had to turn a round into a hexagon. I was just glad I caught it after I had only filled it! It happens to all of us ![]()
If I hadn't read your post, I wouldn't know that this cake was a former disaster. It looks beautiful to me!
That cake looks great. I have yet to sell a cake so I haven't run into something where it has to be done just so - but I can only imagine that I will be adding my list of disaster to this forum! ![]()
That was a great save. It was beautiful. Bet they loved it also.
She looks great! Awesome design! I just did a little Tink so I can appreciate how cute and nice she turned out!
