I have seen a lot of photos with decorations sticking out of the cake on wires. What kind of wires can he used which would be food safe? Thanks! KM

If it has to be inserted directly into the cake, I use stainless steel. If I run out of ss, I will use florist wire but insert several into straws or plastic dowels then insert that into the cake.

Do a search for whatever gauge you wish to work with. The above link came up when I did a search for 20 gauge stainless steel wire.

My dh works with it, so they let him bring some home for me. SS is sanitizable and doesn't rust like other metals.

Craft dept. with the beading. Some hardware stores carry it. just make sure the package states stainless steel and not just steel.

Thanks!!! I'll give it a shot, and it not, I will go with your straw trick.
