Question About Ganache

hi everyone,thanks in advance for any reply/ies.
WHEN POURING GANACHE, DOES HAVE TO BE ON TOP OF AN ICED CAKE?IF NOT, DON'T THE CRUMBS WILL BE A PROBLEM ?ALSO AFTER IT IS SET A WHILE CAN I PIPE FIGURES ON AND ADD FONDANT DECORATIONS AS WELL?

You can use a small amount of the ganache as a crumb coat and then pour. It doesn't have to be done over an iced cake. I know some people do this because they like the taste.

To add fondant decos you would probably want to use some ganache as glue to get them to stick.

Yes, if you pour it over a naked cake you are going to have a problem with crumbs (but you can strain those out of the remaining later) but an even bigger problem with lumpiness. Do a crumb coat of cooled ganache first and let that set up in the fridge before you pour. When its cut you cannot tell the difference.
