Any One Else Not Care For Rich's Bettercreme

I had a few customers that wanted to try the whippy icing. So I bought The Rich's bettercreme and I did not care for the taste. One customer liked it and one liked my BC better. It also stayed so soft and I couldn't smooth it very well at all. I just made a very simple quick little cake so they could taste it. The cake on the other hand was good I tried the Smuckers Simply fruit strawberry for a filling and I loved it, so good!
I don't like it at all. In my experience (back in the retail days) I found that unless I made it in very small batches, it was always filled with air bubbles and impossible to smooth. It dries out and shrinks, which is not a good thing in the retail atmosphere. I was never a fan of the taste either...a little too artificial for me.
Yes I thought the taste was like a bad cool whip. I just guess I prefer good old BC!
That's what I think too.
My husband doesn't think it's bad but I hate the grocery store cakes around here because they use it.
I know other people who really like it so it's probably just me being picky. ![]()
I am not accustomed to icing as sweet as rich's bettercream. I know a lot of people like it, but for me it falls in the same catagory as all the other shortening based icings....YUCK! ![]()
