i posted this in the recipes forum and no one's answering so i'll try here:

i made 3 cakes for my baby shower coming up saturday and i totally spaced on thinking... i made a lemon cake but did a basketweave with brown frosting (which is chocolate) on pretty much the whole cake... is this going to taste okay? i just wish i would've thought about it before i started... duh! i made the teddy bear besides this basket cake but that's all chocolate and then i have the baby buggy and that's white cake but that's it... hopefully everyone really likes chocolate! ugh... let me know if this combo is okay or if i should just keep the cake on "display" and tell everyone they can't eat it icon_smile.gif

I like lemon cake with chocolate frosting. I would just tell people what each cake is and let them decide which they prefer.

I think it would be great to give people an informed choice. I'm not a chocolate freak at all. Can you believe there are those? LOL But, I especially don't care for chocolate and lemon. I'm sure there are those at your party who will love it...and those who will love one of the others. It's great that they'll have a choice.

If it's not a really strong chocolate, you may be surprised at how many people will like it.

I say go for it. Lemon and chocolate and orange and chocolate can be surprisingly good together! thumbs_up.gif

thanks everyone for the input. i decided to put tags on the cakes so everyone knows what they are and they can choose what they like. i was just so excited about making a lemon cake (because i know it tastes so good with the buttercream) i didn't even think twice when i started the basketweave with chocolate! ugh! oh well, live and learn i guess!

i just wanted to let everyone know that the cake went over very well. i was so scared that everyone wouldn't eat the chocolate cakes and those were the only ones that went! my white cake wasn't even touched during the party! the lemon went well with the chocolate BC... i personally didn't like it but as long as everyone else did icon_smile.gif thanks for everyone's opinions again, really appreciated!

Glad it worked out Mommabuda. It's nice when you can provide a few different things so everyone has a choice.
