A local cake store printed an image for me, It's a white invitation, will my chocolate buttercream show or bleed thru? Or should I use white frosting instead?

I would think that white icing under where the image will go will make it stand out nicely from the chocolate icing.

Yes it will show through after the oils in the frosting leech into the image all the white will become transparent.

Attach the image to some MMF and then set it on top of the cake. It will be ok then.
