ok well I tried but I got a phona call about my dad before I started decorating and Im a total nervous wreck and couldnt get the icing smooth to save my life.. Everything was going great until I got that phone call...
I was going to do so much more but I cant even think straight to do anything.. Does it look as bad as I think it does... Should I add anything else.. I couldnt even write half way good, I dont even want to give it to the customer now looks BAD! The border is awful .. the more I messed with smoothing the worse it got.. Oh well.. I knew I shouldnt have answered the phone when I saw it was the doctor calling but then again how could I not answer it.. The doctor called and said basically my dad wont make it 6 months that his heart is in worse condition than they thought and Im like icon_cry.gif trying to make 2 cakes and I'll stop just if anyone has a suggestion how to make this gross cake look any better please tell me. I so cant even think right now..

So sorry to hear about your dad. Surely your customer will understand and I think the cake is very cute!! (Just smooth with your fingers on a piece of wax paper, sometimes the warmth from your hands can erase some of the lines.) I love this idea.

Hang in there and here is a big hug from everyone at cake central ((((( )))))).

The cake looks fine. The customers will be pleased. The tooth looks cute!

Go and take a breather now and don't worry about the cake!!

this happens to me all the time........I get side tracked in the midst of a cake and wammo......it doesn't look like what I had envisioned...I think you're being waaayy too hard on yourself....toothfully, I think the cake looks awesome!!! LOL sorry, how about throwing it in a fridge for a few hours, let the icing firm up and then start smoothing it with your finger...I do it all the time, and people always say.....wow, your icing is so smooth and I just laugh and say ..oh...uh...thanks : ) good luck, relax and I will keep your dad in my prayers I hope everything turns out ok with his situation!

I think that the cake is a very cute idea!!!!! I think you should explain to the customer the situation and I am sure that they will understand.

I will have you and your dad and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

Keep your head up. Do not worry about what this cake looks like - it is something small. Worry about the important things that are going on in your life and you will see that, that cake will be swallowed no differently than if it was flawless.

(((((HUGS)))))))

Thanks.... I started working on the second cake due... Its just a shhet cake tooth THANK Goodness .. I spread the icing on and have it sitting in the fridge so I can smooth it..lol ok TRY to smooth it.. I dont have the patience right now to smooth any better..lol I rushed the icing to so may be why Im having problems with it...lol oh well I guess your right they can still eat it.. I know it will taste good at least ... Ive been sampling NERVES you know.. The tier cake is white cake with cream cheese filling and buttercream dream icing... then the sheet cake is triple chocolate fudge with real hershey chips melted thru it and buttercream dream icing... So they will at least have a great tasting blob of cake..LOL

I LOVE THE EXPRESSION ON THE TOOTH'S LITTLE FACE!!!!! It gives the cake soooo much personality. ((((((()))))))hugs for you and your dad. XXOOXXOO I agree with everyone else, put it in the fridge and take a little break, then try to smooth with fingertips. We really are our own worst critic!!! If you do not like the border, maybe you could put little black dots or white on it or something! HTH God Bless............~Donna

Hi, Your cake looks cute. I know how you are feeling, and I hope that you dad will get better. All I can say is keep doing cakes, at times for 28 days that was the one thing that keep me losing my mind. My dad was my #1 fan. He was always telling all the doctors and nurses about my cakes. I even got a cake order from one of the staff at the hospital. You and your family will be in my prays.

Bless you. I understand your pain--I went through something similar almost six years ago. I think the cake is fine, but if you are worried about it, you could take off the border and add ribbon instead. That would sharpen the edges and make it appear more smooth.

Hugs to you and your family.

I think these cakes are both so cute! And they sound oh so delicious too. I'm really sorry about your dad--things just get SO hard sometimes. But know that there are a bunch of people out here who care and want you to feel better. I'll keep you in my prayers.

Both of your cakes look fine. I really think that they are very cute ideas. Just try and get some rest and if you are able to, try smoothing again. If not, it's o.k.. Don't be so hard on yourself. I will certainly keep your father and your family in my prayers. Remember that God won't ever give you more than you can handle. When things get really rough for you, sit back and think about that wonderful vacation you and your husband had a while back and let it bring a smile to your face. Rely on your faith right now. We all love you and will be your shoulder to cry on, even if it is from this addictive website!!!! BIG CC HUG EVERYONE!!!!!!!

Well I delivered the cakes.. YOu woulda thought there wasn't a flaw anywhere on these cakes.. icon_surprised.gif They were praising them like no end but when they tasted them thumbs_up.gif Hit the Jackpot then. The 2 young men they were for came up and hugged me for taking time and working so hard. Travis even said I know you worked hours baking and making and that is the best graduation gift ever. Talk about putting a girl to tears.... There were about 60 people there and I actually got 4 more orders off these.. I also got another job for beginning of next year I was icon_surprised.gificon_biggrin.gificon_surprised.gificon_biggrin.gif. I did some senior pictures in between traveling back and forth from OKC visiting dad. They were awesome I even shocked myself but the prinicipal of one of the high schools here asked me about taking senior pictures for next year. Asked if he needed a special even t if they could call me.. I was floored but accepted the job and told them to make sure give me plenty of notice since I dont know what is going to happen with my dad.
So all in all those goofy looking cakes got me a HUGE job.. CHA CHING!
Thanks for the support and prayers. I cant tell you all thank you enough..
