How long does a cake(single layer) need to sit after putting on symple syrup? Its a red velvet that I had to carve (crumbs arrrggg!!) and I need to ice it with white buttercream.

Terry I haven't actually done this, but I've seen where others have recommended half an hour in the fridge. Red velvet with BC? I tried that once without the crumb coat and the cake color actually bled through the BC. It's really pretty when you cut it though.
