Will it dry to a shiny finish want to paint a glossy border on fondant and how long will it take to dry. Also should I wait for the fondant to dry out some beore adding details (other fondant, dragees, etc)?

I'm not sure piping gel ever really dries. I used it to fill in a stained glass picture on top of buttercream and it stayed pretty wet and sticky. It did stay nice and glossy for the couple of days between decorating the cake and eating it. As for adding details to fondant, I've put decorations on fondant immediately after covering the cake. I usually do let other fondant decorations dry before using though.
