I'm having problems with my fondant that I mixed up for flowers drying out before I can use it. I originally had put it in plastic wrap and then in a ziplock bag, but then I had someone tell me to put it in aluminum foil and then in the bag.

How do you store your fondant?

This is something I would like to know as well I was thinking a Tupperware container would be ok.

I wrap mine tightly in saran wrap that has been sprayed with non stick spray, thenI put it in a ziploc bag. My fondant doesn't usually dry out.

I wrap mine tightly in suran wrap then put it in a ziploc bag and never have had a problem. Make sure you are getting ALL the air out of the wrap and the bag. You could also try storing it in a tupperware container after you have wrapped it to see if that helps.

after mixing fondant I very lightly cover it with Cisco, wrap snuggly in plastic wrap and store in an air tight container. I've never had a problem with drying. I have also used the zip locks with no problem. I can store the fondant for over 3 weeks with no problem.

As for drying out... are you refering to completely dryed or your mixture still moist but very stiff and crumbly? If that is the case, just ad a few drops of water and knead the fondant again. If you are using the MMF you can warm it up in the microwave. But CAUTION on this method. Check the fondant every second and don't touch it with your fingers. The outside will seem tough and the center is a ball of goo. When your finger goes through the center it's a painful lesson. I would use a wooden spoon to test it.

If you are storing the fondant for more then a day or two I would be afraid to use foil since it could possibly deteriorate or rust over time when using anything with oils or acid bases. The foil will weaken with time. I had thrown away 3 mixes because of the foil and I am paranoid of every using it again. I would stick with the plastic wrap. It's much safer and easer to control.

I use my food saver. I put the extra fondant in the food saver bag and then seal it. It pulls the air out of the bag and keeps the fondant soft.

My fondant severely dried out for class on Tuesday and I was unable to make the roses. It's good to know what to do next time.
