If I cover my cake board in gift wrap (to match a party theme), do I need to put something else, like plastic wrap, over top? Will the gift wrap alter the taste of the cake or anything?
I know that seems like a silly question, but I once used masking tape under plastic wrap, under a cake, and the nasty taste of the masking tape went right through the plastic and into the bottom of the cake. It was terrible!! icon_cry.gif

Any suggestions? Thanks!!

I've heard the stuff you use on cake boards has to be food approved. I've also heard of people using wrapping paper and then covering the whole thing with clear contact paper.

i beleive others on the boards here just cover with clear contact paper. Protects anything in the wrapping paper from getting on the cake and from absorbing any grease from the cake.
