I was recently asked to do a full sheet cake for my office birthdays for the month. They said to keep it simple I have never done a cake this big. Any pictures or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance
wow that is huge. I have never done a full. I usually do 1/2 sheets.
I do fulls all the time. It isn't much different than decorating any other sheet cake. One thing I do is to bring the borders in more to make the decorating area the size of a 1/2 sheet. Look in my pictures.. the Sweet 16 portrait and the M&M logo are on full sheet cakes. Use a yard stick and measure in about 3 inches. Make an indentation to follow to keep it straight.
Just think of it as a 1/2 sheet cake with extra borders and it won't be so scary!
I've only done one, but it wasn't bad at all. I'll try and find the photo. I made mine using 2 cakes 11 x 15 and placing them side by side. Just keep the design simple and you'll do fine. I like the idea of coming in a few inches on each side. ![]()

Never liked this photo. The cake box and board are all connected and so there wasn't a great way to take a good photo. Wouldn't buy this type of box again.
I do full sheet cakes all the time as well...(I bake two half sheets and put them together) For soccer teams, I have written all the kids names on the cake and just put a border around it. You can make the wider border and maybe put everyone's bday name on it...with a happy birthday on it. Or you can just do the usual row of rose buds down the cake for each "slice"...
Transforming them is really the biggest problem! Make sure you use a thick board underneith, you will be surprised how much a full sheet cake weighs!
