you are correct. We are working on the ganache. I will check tomorrow on the fillings but you are most likely correct on that also.

This is such great news thanks to all of you for sharing. I would like to add one other item that I just discovered at Sams Club. Inquire about their ready made fondant flower arrangements - they are very delicate, beautifuly colored and very, very inexpensive. Recently I was crusing by the cakes and noticed a lady ordering these to put on a baptismal cake for a little girl and it was just darling. I think they are around $12 or so. Perhaps one of you that work at Sams could enlighten us to the current pricing. Thanks again.

I am wondering the same thing. I live close to a Costco, and would love to know if they do the same as Sam's. If anybody knows, I would love to hear, as others would, I am sure! Thanks.

Costco will NOT sell you any of these items! I went one day and grabbed a bucket of icing(they were sitting there on a shelf under the baked goods table)and the lady told me they could not sell any of that stuff. I asked for the manager and she was not much help. I told her I could buy it at Sams club and she huffed at me and said , then go to sams club!
I did not renew my membership!

The Sam's Club nearby told me they'd sell me an undecorated cake for the same price as a decorated one. They also said they do not sell other decorating goods to customers. They looked at me strange when I asked if they would sell me their plastic cake containers. They told me to go to Party City. I was quite disappointed. icon_cry.gificon_cry.gif I think I'll go back and talk to them. icon_mad.gificon_evil.gif What approach did you all take?

no, the colored icings(buttercream)comes in the smaller buckets...still a great buy at less than 10 bucks a bucket.

Sam's club does not sell them individually...as stated earlier...all of these items are for sell by the case only.

If you need just 2 layers or less than 50 cake containers, Sam's is not the place to go.

I saw the gumpaste sprays in Sam's today, and they were very pretty. I was surprised that they had them. I couldn't belive they were selling a half sheet cake with a gumpaste spray for $18. I am going to go back and place an order for those. Also, my Sam's has a ton of regular Crisco. It really is cheaper than the grocery store, and I hate the new stuff!

Do NOT buy the Tone's vanilla. It tastes like sticks. I don't know how I know how sticks taste, but I imagine they would taste like Tone's vanilla. Other than that, I bought:

10lbs of Domino granulated sugar for: $4.58
4lbs of Domino powdered sugar for: $4.13
6lbs Crisco for: $5.54

The butter was very reasonable also, but I had already purchased that from Walmart.

at sams I paid 17.00 for a case of 1/2 sheet yellow cake. 24.00 for a case of 1/2 sheet chocolate cake, and 26.00 for a 35lb bucket of buttercream. you can also get a 20lb bucket of creamcheese icing for 25.00.

I'm at work right now and left the sheet they wrote for me at home. But here are a few things I remember. The 1/2 sheet boards were $9.30 I think for 50, sheetcake box bottom $16 somthing and widow top $17 somthing for 50. Plastic domes were $52 for 100 (includes top and bottom) that was for 12 inch, they could not find the price for 10 inch. They also have 10 inch pie domes, could not get that price either. I think the bettercreme was about $16 somthing for the bucket and I was told it could be frozen. I plan to call them later and get pricing on the 10 inch domes. The person I talked to while I was at work was not there. They also have the sheetcake domes and bottoms, can't remember the price.

kandio63- Just wondering if you had a price list yet. I am really excited about this information. I actually bought a bucket of the bettercreme a couple of weeks ago from Sam's and I never thought to ask about their other supplies. I live about 45 minutes to an hour from our nearest Sam's Club, so I thought maybe if you had a price list to share that would be great so I can plan for another trip! TIA

They didn't really have a list, they just listed the things I asked about.
50 1/2 sheet scalloped pads $9.33
50 1/2 sheet box bottoms $16.36
50 1/2 sheet box tops w window $17.48
buttercream 28 lbs $26.56
bettercreme 16 lbs $22.24
12 inch round plastic cake dome combo (dome and bottom base) 100 $70.72
10 inch cake dome combo 100 $52.16

This is all the info I got so far. I have to go back because the person I talked to could not find the prices for some of the items they sell.

tyty- Thanks so much for the prices that you do have. It seems like they are decent prices, and I do love Sam's Club, so a trip there is always welcomed. icon_biggrin.gif
I will probably go on Thurs., I will ask if they can give me a price sheet, or at least allow me to copy down their sheet. If I am able, I will be sure to post the info. I get.
Thanks again.
