Is there a cake decorating program that helps you design cakes? I am thinking of the kind that let you design a house or a landscape. But is there one for cakes? I have a lot of ideas to put down on paper, but I can't draw worth a darn! Everything I do comes straight from my head, but I have so many that I think about in between working on a cake. Yes, I am a computer geek, just looking for help. Any ideas?

Could you possibly just use a "paint" program or one of the "Publisher" programs? I have never seen one for cake design, specifically.

I've wished for one forever, but never seen one that would really do what I wanted it too. icon_cry.gif

With a paint program, I still have to draw. Was hoping there was a "miracle cure" for me, but no luck so far.

I have been using AutoCad. At home I only have an LT version but at work (not even close to being a bakery) we have a 3D version and i've had fun playing with it.

Not sure if you have acces to AutoCad from anyone you know, but it helps me get things started. And I have figured out all of my servings this way and I know that each piece is VERY VERY close to the same as all the others.

wow, thank you. I hadn't even thought of that. I went to ITT many, many years ago. Not sure where I can get that though nowadays.

My boyfriend is a Comp Science Major and is attempting to "create" a program for me for my cakes. It will probably be pretty ruff for a while but if all works out as planned, ill be sure to share!

Can I just say "I would love you guys forever"? That would be awesome. Wish I was better at the computer to design my own programs.

I sometimes use The Print Shop Deluxe. I purchased it for $50 at Costco about 3 or 4 years ago. It has over 200 000 clip art images. It has shapes. I created a template to resemble a tiered cake (by using three of the "smashed rectangle" shapes with curved edges. ) I open the template often to play with colors. I also can add dots, lines, flowers, circles, any shape it has to offer. I import clipart images from the internet (Lightning McQueen). You can also import the clipart and enlarge or reduce it for use for FBCTs or for Chocolate transfers. It isn't specifically just for cakes, but it's proven helpful. I also use it to crop and clean up my cake pictures. I can make the pictures have a frosty edge, or give it a colored background. It's well worth the $50. Good luck.
