Hi all, I came accross this pan and wondered if anyone has ever used it for petite fours before and if it worked ok for them? The pan is called a "educated cake pan" and you are supposed to use it to make letters and numbers, but I was thinking it could work for petite fours but Im not sure. Thanks for any help!

I have seen similar pans sold recently. The new wave of individual desserts has brought a premium price for pans such as those. Does it have inserts for the entire cake, or just where there is no cardboard? If it has inserts to fill the entire pan, you have yourself quite a find. Those pans are being sold at prices I have seen from $25 to $60, depending on the website or catalog.
How big are the inserts? If they are around 2x2x2, you can get 4 petit fours out of each insert, if you measure them at 1" cubed, each, which is standard size.
Congratulations on your find!

You know, I went back and looked at some pics of the pan on ebay I dont think there is square inserts under the cardboard. I wonder if I could find a good deal and buy 2 pans I could use some of the inserts from one pan in the other to make one whole pan of inserts? Does anyone know?

These pans have been around a very long time. My MIL gave me one about 6 yrs ago that's at least 25 yrs old. I've never used it because I didn't have a clue how to or what it was meant for...and MIL couldn't remember what she did with it, either... ![]()
But thanks to the pic you posted, I have an idea now! Have to dig it out and see what I can make with it...Thanks! ![]()
