This might be silly, but do you remove the fondant before serving the cake or do you serve it with it on?

Not silly at all. You serve it with it on and let the guest decide if they want to take it off on the plate.

I definitely serve it on the cake. If the person doesn't want it, then they can peel it off their slice. I use MMF and roll it pretty thin - not many people peel it off.

It's the icing on the cake, so you leave it on.
All cakes are served w/ the icing on it. Fondant is no different.

No question is a stupid question. icon_smile.gif

Everyone I know peels it off. But, I have yet to go to a wedding where it has been served. My daughter has been to several, however, and she says "everyone" peels it off, but that it is always served to the guest. Somehow, I think I would find it kind of "eeeew" if someone peeled my cake for me!

Thanks everyone it must just be personal preference. I guess I would have to taste the fondant first. You do put buttercream on first thought don't you?
