I have a request for a Lemon cake with buttercreme frosting. I'm not too sure this will taste well together. Has anyone made it? (It could be that I'm just not a fan of Lemon icon_lol.gif )
The BC that I make, I use 2 TBS vanilla and 1/4 TS almond. Should I sub the almond w/ lemon or will that be TOO much Lemon? icon_eek.gif
Any help is welcome!!! TIA

I would leave the almond out of it altogether, and BC goes with EVERYTHING...lol
Maybe just a drop of the lemon extract, or a squeeze of real lemon, it will bring the lemon flavor out in the cake.

Here's a lemon cake, filling & frosting thread:

Creme Bouquet flavored frosting would also go nicely with a lemon cake. icon_smile.gif

There is a recipe posted here that's called lemon raspberry buttercream, that would be perfect.

I agree!...and do they want it filled? You could suggest raspberry filling. Lemon/raspberry my favorite filling!

Thanks so much everyone!
She does want raspberry, I was going to try the rasp filling recipe on here.
Can you use just rasp jam if I needed to?? I'm new to the fillings, usually I only put BC in the middle. icon_lol.gif

Raspberry Filling:

Enhancing Jam Fillings:

Sleeved Pastry Fillings:

To make a slightly fancier presentation using jam as a filling:

Frost layers with b/c and then spoon your filling over that. When cut the layer cake looks quite festive.
